video artist & activist.

Arianna Nixon is an emerging visual artist and activist from Magan-djin (Brisbane) whose work explores visual cultures, gender, & cultural dissonance.

Her passion for experimental filmmaking has evolved into an arts practice inspired by the postmodern video artists of the 1970s and 80s & the impressionists of the century preceding. Arianna is driven to create work reflecting on escapism and the realities of dialectical materialism in relation to queer & trans struggle,

utilising proprietary analog video techniques.

Arianna's love of creativity was explored at SAE QANTM Brisbane where she completed her Bachelor of Film (Post-Production) in 2019. The edit suite is a second home to her now and she continues to grow past her studies as an emerging young artist. Her Dreamscape series of short films were a foray into experimental artistic mediums and her close work with her contemporaries Amy Sargeant (Flag 3, CLIMAX, Vigil in Infrared), Dylan Fewings (The Untitled Interview Show),

Thomas Svensson (The Forgotten Bird) and previous work with companies such as

La Boite Theatre Company & Playlab has taken her to new heights.

Arianna continues to explore her arts practice, delving into

new layers of graphic distortion and visual dissonance.
